1. 뜻을 정하라

자신의 영혼을 더럽히지 않기로

- 하지 말아야할 것

- 해야 할 것: 다니엘(하루 3번 기도)

바벨론 왕이 그들의 이름을 바꾸었지만, 그들은 그들의 신분, 삶을 바꾸지 않았다.

2. 하나님을 두려워하라

환관장-아이들의 얼굴이 건강해보이면 자기 직업을 잃게 될까봐 두려워 함

다니엘과 세 친구들은 왕을 두려워하는 환관장에게 자기들도 두려워하는 분이 계시다는 것을 보여 줌.

* 세상 사람들이 자기 위에 있는 자를 다 두려워한다. 그렇다면 우리는 하나님을 어떻게 대해야 하는가? 나는 과연 하나님 두려워하는 마음이 있는가?

3. 하나님을 테스트해 보자

십일조 명령 후에 ‘나를 테스트 해보라’고 하셨다. 반드시 약속을 지키신다는 강한 표현이다.

지금 다니엘과 세 친구는 하나님을 테스트하고 있다.

의심해서가 아니라 확실히 믿었기 때문에 무모한 테스트를 하고 있다.

상식적으로 말이 안 되는 시험이지만 하나님을 믿었기 때문에...

누가 봐도 말이 안 되는 테스트를 해 보자.

하루를 하나님과 함께 시작하기. 하루에 30분.

아침이 너무 바쁘다면 저녁에라도. 그러나 적어도 아침에 기도는 하고 시작하자.

4. 함께 하자

믿음의 동역자-다니엘과 세 친구들은 서로 격려하며 이겨냈다. 세 친구들이 함께 하지 않았다면 혹시 왕의 신상에게 절하였을지도 모른다. 혼자라면 풀무불에 못 들어갔을지도 모른다.

뜻을 정한 것을(~하지 말고, ~해야 하기로 작정한 것) 서로 나누고 서로 기도하자.

혼자서는 이 결심을 못지킬 수 있다. 그러나 함께 하면 할 수 있다.

5. 끝까지 하자

10일 동안 끝까지 완주했다.

기도하면서... 무슨 기도 했을까?

당연히 채식과 물만 먹고도 건강하게 해달라고. 왜? 왕의 음식 먹지 않아도 되도록.

그들의 기도의 내용은 음식에 관한 것이 아니라 신앙에 관한 것이었다. 자신들의 영혼을 더럽히지 않고자.

그 결과,

1) 채소와 물만 먹고도 왕의 음식을 먹은 동료들보다 윤택. 살쪘다.

2) 지혜와 지식, 꿈을 해석할 수 있는 지혜까지 주셨다. 다른 동료들보다 10배나.

a. 하나님의 나라와 의를 구하는 자에게 구하지 않은 모든 것을 더해 주심

b. 여호와를 경외하는 자에게 지혜를 주심

c. 각양 좋은 은사와 온전한 선물이 다 위로부터 빛들의 아버지께로부터 내려옴(약1:17)

기도제목

1. 하나님! 뜻을 정합니다.

1) ~것으로 나 자신을 더럽히지 않기로

2) 하나님께 나의 시간을 드리기로

2. 하나님을 경외하기를 원합니다.

내가 하나님을 두려워한다는 것을 주위의 믿지 않는 친구들이 알 수 있도록

3. 이번 학년 동안 하나님을 테스트해보기를 원합니다.

믿지 못해서가 아니라 믿기 때문에

4. 이 결심 혼자가 아니라 우리 교회 중고등부 친구들과 함께 기도하면서 지키게 해 주옵소서.

General Summary

1) Decide on Purpose

- not to defile your soul

- things I should not do

- things I should do (ex: Daniel prayed 3 times a day)

- although the Babylon King changed their names, they did not change their identity or the way they lived their lives.

2) Fearing God

- the Official was fearful that if Daniel and his friends looked healthier in appearance then he would lose his job

- Daniel and his friends wanted to show that they too had someone they feared

- Everyone has someone they ultimately fear above them. If that is true, what should our attitudes be toward God. Do I really have a fearful heart towards God?

3) Testing God

- Daniel requested a “test” over a ten day period.

- It was a confident request out of faith in God

- Daniel and his three friends were “testing” God during this period.

- It wasn’t out of doubt but conviction of trust in God

- It was considered to an unusual test of faith in God

Challenge for us to have a similar test for God

- to start off the day with the Lord for at least 30 minutes

- if mornings are too busy then in the evening

- at least to begin the day with prayer

4) Let‘s do it together

- Daniel and his three friends helped each other through the test. If he was alone could he have had the same results?

- To share with one another the “do’s” and don’ts” of our lives and to pray for one another

- It is far too difficult to commit to this alone but it can greater be accomplished together

5) To the very end

- they endured through the ten days

- what did they pray about?

- for health and nourishment even while eating vegetables

- why? so they wouldnt have to rely on the King’s choice food

- their prayer was not so much based on the food they wanted to avoid but more so on the purity of their body and to not defile their soul

As a Result:

1. Eating vegetables and water made them appear more healthier and better nourished then those who ate of the King’s choice food.

2. They were given knowledge and understanding and the ability to discern dreams. 10 times more than the others

a. those who seek the Lord will be blessed beyond their expectation

b. the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom

c. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,

Prayer Requests:

a. Lord, I will make my decision!

i. because of this____________ I will no longer defile my heart or my soul

ii. I will lift up my time unto you

iii. I want to fear you as my God

1. for others to see the Fear that I have for you and to know you are God

iv. to test God during this school year.

i. not because of doubt but because of conviction of faith

v. not to do this alone, but to do it together with the rest of my youth group friends.
